Matt’s government experience includes the Department of the Navy, the Defense Commissary Agency, the US International Trade Commission, and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). His time at VA includes 5 years at the Board of Veterans Appeals (BVA) and 3 years at the Hampton VAMC. He worked in Outside Medical Opinions, Veterans Law Judge Support, and Hearing Management. Matt was the Systems Redesign Coordinator and completed Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training.

In the military, Matt deployed to Honduras for Operation Golden Pheasent in 1988, Panama for Operation Just Cause in 1989, Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom in 2002, and Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007.

Matt completed an AS in Business Administration at Northern Virginia Community College, a BA in History at the University of Virginia, and an MBA at South University (Virginia Beach).
